Thursday, Jan 22- Classic At Morse Farms

BUS DEPARTS CVU AT 12:45
MORSE FARM 1168 County Road, E. Montpelier
DISTANCE:  Approximately 5.5 KM for Varsity races; approximately 2.5 KM for B and middle school races.
STYLE:  Classic.  Waxing should be fine out-of-doors, but limited indoor space is available.
THE COURSE: A mix of skiable uphills and sweeping downhill runs. The planned course will incorporate much of the Sugar Loop depending upon how snow conditions sort out through the week.   Click here to access trail map.  
WHEN: Beginning at 3:00 p.m.  The sun still sets early, so we will have as small a time gap between races as the course will allow. Race order:  Middle School Boys/Girls; Varsity Boys/Girls; JV Boys/JV Girls.
FACILITIES: Bathroom facilities and concessions, including after-race maple creamees, are available for purchase at the center. No changing rooms are available, so teams are encouraged to come prepared.   
STARTING PROCEDURE: 
Interval start.  Two skiers every twenty seconds.  Brief intervals between categories.

Thursday. January 8- Freestyle Prologue – 2k 
BUS LEAVES CVU at 2:30 for Sleepy Hollow- reminder 1 car per family at SH. Bus is drop off only! Contact coaches if you need a ride back to CVU

Place: Sleepy Hollow
Time: All Boys- 3:30, All Girls 3:50, All MS 4:10
Format: Wave Start skate technique (one per school faster skiers first)
Course: 1k snow making loop at Sleepy Hollow race it 2 times
            All categories ski the same 2k race
Details:
-       Leader bibs will be awarded to winners of boys and girls varsity races for us on Saturday

There will not be a Middle school component.  It is a challenging (read squirrelly) but fun course
3:15 Mass start All Girls; 
4:00 mass start all Boys;
 JV’s  do one 2.5k lap and Varsity skiers do two laps

Teams: U-32, LI, St. J., Montpelier, CVU, MMU, BHS, CHS, Essex, SBHS
Site: Sleepy Hollow
Style: Freestyle
Start time: 10:00 am, Mass start for middle school racers, girls then boys 3 minutes apart. 
 10:30 am, Interval starts in pairs, Boys’ JV followed soon after by Girls’ JV
 Boys’ Varsity will start 10 minutes after JV racers finish followed by Varsity Girls’ shortly after last boy starts on the same clock.
Divisions and Distances: Varsity-5km, J.V. and Middle School-3km

***Do not turn onto Steam Mill Rd./Forest Rt. 59 off of Route 125 (some GPS units will take you this way if the above address is entered)***
  From Route 7:
In East Middlebury, turn onto route 125 East toward Ripton for 7 miles to Breadloaf Campus (yellow buildings). Turn left into Rikert Nordic center parking lot. Busses park on East side of lot.
  From Route 100:
In Hancock, turn onto route 125 West toward Ripton for 9 miles to Breadloaf Campus (yellow buildings). Turn right into Rikert Nordic center parking lot. Busses park on East side of lot.
PARKING: There will be a designated area on the east side of the parking lot for busses.
Additional parking (parents, spectators, etc.) will be available on the south side of route 125 (across the road from Rikert) when the main lot fills.
The “Big Barn” will be available for team use, e.g., warming up and eating, etc. There is limited space, so please keep the majority of your belongings on busses. Please do not crowd in the ski shop and only use that area for restrooms/changing and the snack bar.
Electric power will be provided alongside the parking lot adjacent to bus parking.
FOOD: There is a snack bar with soups, hot & cold drinks, and a variety of granola bars, chips, jerky, candy, etc. It is recommended that competitors bring lunch, as the “stomach-filling” food selection is limited.
FACILITIES:  There is an indoor men’s and women’s bathrooms located inside the lodge. There will be portable toilets available outside as well.
SPECTATORS:  Spectators and non-competitors will be allowed in designated spectator areas free of charge, and must be acutely aware of all racer traffic and respect volunteer “crossing guards”. However, any spectators or non-competing team members who wish to ski out on the course (outside of the designated area) must purchase a $10.00 trail pass.
TEE SHIRTS:  The pre-ordered 2014 Vermont Nordic State Championship Tee shirts will be available for pickup at registration. One check from each school made out to MUHS Nordic. Limited shirts will be available for sale day of the championships.

Saturday, Feb 15- So. Royalton at Strafford Nordic Center- Skate

DISTANCE: The varsity (A) race is 6km - 3 laps on a 2km course. The B course is 4km - 2 laps on the same 2km course. Our course is very spectator-friendly -- much of the course is visible to spectators from the lower fields. 

START TIME: 
10:15am - Varsity boys followed by Varsity girls 5 minutes later. Please have your skiers ready to go on time. All races are mass start.
WHERE: The race is at Strafford Nordic Center. The race course will be marked off, however the rest of the trail system will still be open to the public. The start and finish of our course will be marked with signage and flagging. Buses will be directed to parking upon arrival. Check-in will be in the lodge for coaches only.
